VIETNAMESE COFFEE

I could write a lot about Coffee, so where do I start?

My love for coffee started early already and since I came to Vietnam, I wanted to learn more about it - from plant to cup.

When I lived in Dalat, I saw the coffee plantations and learned about the coffee plant. In Hoi An and Saigon, I took a Barista Course and learned about processing, roasting and making coffee.

Vietnam is the second biggest coffee exporter in the world (after Brazil) and coffee became a big part of Vietnamese culture. Farming coffee is hard work as the harvesting is done manual and a lot of work is needed until we can enjoy our cup of coffee as we love it.

My Top Three Coffeeshops in Vietnam

Phin Coffee

The cheapest coffee machine I've ever had

This is how I make my coffee every morning. I like Vietnamese coffee a lot so I use the Phin which is very easy and convenient. I even carry it with me when I travel. Everything else you need is a cup, medium grind beans and hot water.

What to try in a
Vietnamese Coffeeshop

Coldbrew & Co.

Apart from the Vietnamese Style Coffees, you can also get Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino, Flat White ... More and more coffeeshops also offer cold brewed coffee. In this brewing method, the coffee beans are soaked in water for 12-24 hours and kept in room temperature. Cold brew coffee has a different taste because the flavor is extracted at lower temperatures.

And that's still not all!

Coffeeshops in Vietnam are a big part of the culture. The opening hours are normally from early morning until late night and people come there before, while or after work to hang out.

It's also very common to go to coffeeshops for working or studying.

Sometimes coffeeshops also sell some snacks but normally they offer drinks only.

Apart from coffee, you can get tea, juices, smoothies and yogurts.

Here is some more inspiration but I feel like every coffeeshop has its signature drinks, especially when it comes to fruit teas!
