South Vietnam

South Vietnam is famous for it's fast growing Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta, the Central Highlands and some nice spots along the coast as Vung Tau, Mui Ne and Nha Trang.

I spent most of my time in the South and I love the people and the food here a lot!

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Ho Chi Minh City, also called Saigon, is the place where I spent most of my time in Vietnam so far. I know the city very well already and I have plenty of recommendations for good coffee and food for you .

Can Tho

Can Tho became my favorite city in Vietnam because I love the people, the culture and the food here. It's a good place to learn about the life in Mekong Delta, especially at Cai Rang Floating Market.

Rach Gia

Rach Gia is a coastal city in South Vietnam. The city itself is nice but it's even more beautiful on Hon Son Island, Nam Du Island or Hon Tre Island.

Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc is the most famous island of Vietnam. You can get there by airplane or by ferry from Rach Gia.

It's very touristy but I also found some quiet spots.

Ca Mau

Ca Mau is the most Southern province of Vietnam. It's famous for crabs and shrimps. If you want to travel off the beaten path, this is where you should go (and try cua cà mau nha!)

Tra Vinh

Tra Vinh is the province of coconut trees and home to a very special type of coconut called "Sap Coconut" (dừa sáp) - really worth trying as you can only find it around Cau Ke in Tra Vinh Province!

Vung Tau

Vung Tau is a port city only two hours away from Ho Chi Minh City. It has some nice beaches and a beautiful coastline that you can admire best from Vung Tau Lighthouse.

Con Dao is an island known for it's natural beauty and history. It's a mystic island where people come to pray and remember the past.

Phan Thiet - Mui Ne

I love Phan Thiet. The city itself is nice and developing in a positive way.

The beach in Phan Thiet is more for walking along the promenade as there is no sand. If you want to go to the beach, Mui Ne is the better choice.

Phan Rang - Thap Cham

Phan Rang is less busy than Nha Trang and Phan Thiet. It's famous for kite surfing.

It's nice for a short lay-over when you're driving along the coast of Vietnam.

Nha Trang

Nha Trang is a coastal city in Southern Vietnam. It reminds me a little bit of Da Nang even when it's smaller.

The coastline around Nha Trang is very beautiful and if you have the chance, do a roadtrip down South or to Dalat!

Tuy Hoa

Tuy Hoa is a coastal city two hours north of Nha Trang. Most of the tourists who go there are Vietnamese so it's a nice experience when you want to travel "off the beaten path".

Dalat

Dalat is a city in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. At 1.500m above sea level, the climate is cooler so it's really popular among Vietnamese people. Dalat grows a lot of vegetables, fruits and coffee so you can see a lot of farms and plantations there. I've lived in Dalat for four months and it will always be a special place to me.

Lam Ha

It's nice to do a day trip to Lam Ha and explore the nearby waterfall and the big buddha statue in Linh An Pagoda.
