HALONG

Halong City is the gateway to Halong Bay, one of the most famous tourist attractions in Vietnam. But also Halong itself is nice to discover.

Halong Bay can be very crowded because it's so famous. But when you combine it with one or two days in Halong and go to the beach there, you can also see the karst mountains and enjoy the sunset in a more relaxing atmosphere.

I heard that going to Lan Ha Bay from Cat Ba Island is less touristy but I haven't been there yet. A lot of people recommend Catbaventures for a cruise there.

Halong City

I like Halong City as it's located along the coastline with beautiful views of Halong Bay. The city is developing and looks neat.

Hon Gai Beach

Hon Gai Beach is nice to take a swim and to see the sunset.

Get a coconut and enjoy the views!

Halong Bay Cruise

What everyone is doing and I don't blame anyone but it's just so crowded. Choose a good tour company and don't bring plastic bottles as they won't allow you to bring them on the boats.

HALONG BAY CRUISE

Be prepared for the crowds

Of course everyone wants to see Halong Bay and maybe I just went on a very busy day but please be aware that it can get so crowded. The boat dropped us off on an island to go to a cave and we stuck in there for at least one hour.

Choose a suitable tour operator so you can enjoy most of the time of your Halong Bay Cruise on the water.

Or, go to Lan Ha Bay from Cat Ba Island which is supposed to be less busy.
